About Us

Located in western Pennsylvania, an hour east of Pittsburgh, Excela Health includes three licensed, acute care hospitals, two free-standing outpatient surgery centers, home care and hospice, physician practices, a durable medical equipment company and other facilities and services. Formally incorporated in 2004, Excela Health is governed by a single Board of Trustees.

Under the medical supervision of one medical staff, Excela Health offers traditional inpatient care on campuses in Greensburg, Latrobe and Mount Pleasant, along with outpatient treatment and specialty services to rank as the region's third largest health care network.

Excela Health is the sole provider of health care in Westmoreland County, which is the largest county in the state. Employing 4,800 employees and credentialing 800 physicians and allied health professionals in 35 specialties, Excela Health also serves parts of Fayette and Indiana counties. A not-for-profit system, Excela Health is committed to a distributed delivery system to assure community access to vital acute care services and emergent care. Highly specialized services such as invasive cardiology (6,000+ procedures in fiscal year 2008), neurosciences, maternity care (1,750 babies annually on average) and cancer care (highest patient volume outside of Pittsburgh) are coordinated under the Center of Excellence model and anchored within one of the three hospitals. Three charitable foundations exist to benefit the clinical and operational needs of Excela Health's hospitals and affiliated health care services. They include the Frick/Westmoreland Hospital Foundation with its two branches - the Frick Hospital Foundation and the Westmoreland Hospital Foundation - and the Latrobe Area Hospital Charitable Foundation.
